Henri Vancoillie founds the "Café au Coq d'Or". It consists of a café with 3 rooms and is located on the corner of the Hofstraat, opposite the current location of Hotel Bero.

1923

Henri Vancoillie acquires the "Hôtel-Restaurant Mont-Blanc", the left corner of today's Hotel Bero, and calls it "Hôtel au Coq d'Or".

After the war, Margueritte Vancoillie and Auguste Bero took over the helm and focused, among other things, on the nascent English bus market with tourists who came to visit the cemeteries and battlefields of both world wars.

In order to increase the room capacity, 3 floors are added to the existing building. The hotel is now called "Nouveau Coq d'Or". The bathroom is still in the corridor and has to be shared with other guests.

Michel Bero, with Karine Van Den Broucke at the helm, built the block of the current entrance hall in 1974 with 17 new rooms and a new bar with lounge. From now on, the hotel is called "Hotel Bero".

The reception will be renewed and there will be a wellness area with a swimming pool, sauna, solarium and jacuzzi.

Michel Bero buys hotel Myra, next door in Platformstraat, makes a passage on the ground floor and converts the 24 rooms into 12 new spacious rooms.

1994

The Bero family buys Hotel Telstar, located on the right side of the hotel, and the 19 rooms are renovated. At that time, there is no connection between the 2 hotels. In 1994, Hotel Bero also becomes a member of Golden Tulip Hotels as Tulip Inn Bero Oostende.

1996

First phase of the Junior Suites' renovation, 3 floors will be completely renewed and 4-star rooms will be created.

1998

The second phase of the Junior Suites' renovation, the rooms on the two other floors will be tackled and a new lift for 13 people will be installed. Between hotel Bero and the area where hotel Myra used to be, a passageway on the floors is now being created.

Hotel Bero buys the building next to the already integrated Hotel Myra, renovates the lobby and installs a new hotel bar, the "On the Rocks" bar.

On the side of Platform Street, the "Lindores Whisky Lounge" will be built next to the bar, and 13 new 4-star executive rooms will be constructed. The basement and kitchens will also be completely renovated and a high-voltage cabin installed.

In Capucijnenstraat, Hotel Bero purchases another building next door.

2011

The building that was purchased in 2007 will be demolished together with Hotel Telstar and a brand new low-energy building will be built with 20 Ecology rooms, 2 meeting rooms and a wellness centre. The swimming pool area will also be given a new look.

The breakfast restaurant will be completely renewed.

Parking

Hotel Bero has a partnership with the underground Indigo parking Zeedijk 100m from the hotel. This allows you to park at a reduced rate at Indigo Zeedijk. This is subject to availability on the day and can never be guaranteed. When you check in, you can ask at reception if there is still availability. If there is still availability, you will be given an access card for the car park on payment of a deposit. Your deposit will be refunded if you return the ticket to reception before midday. Please note, you will need this ticket to drive out of the car park.

This secure underground car park has a maximum height of 2m10 and is accessible to disabled people. There are charging points available for electric cars. Places subject to charge and availability.

Hotel Bero carries the Flemish A-label for accessible tourism
The reception area is reached via a ramp and the breakfast room is easily accessible.

Two spacious lifts serve all floors.
The hotel has 6 wheelchair-accessible rooms with sufficient circulation space, which are also equipped with wide doors and an adapted bathroom. 

The meeting room on the first floor has an adapted toilet.

Hotel access

The entrance door to Hotel Bero is closed between 10pm and 7am. If you are standing in front of a closed door, you can always ring the bell on the right-hand side of the door. This way, you can reach the night watchman by intercom and ask him to let you in. Here is a picture of the bell with the push button circled in blue.
